According to supporters of the Green Party of Iran in Tehran, a candle light vigil in Mohseni Square in Tehran on Tuesday September 18 in solidarity with the American people came under attack by vigilantes organized by the Iranian regime. During the vigil, Green Party of Iran supporters carried placards and signs protesting the environmental destruction in Iran. Police confiscated the signs, and according to reports some protesters were injured and an unknown number of people were arrested.
The Green Party of Iran condemns the brutal acts of vigilantes and police against our supporters and other peaceful demonstrators and asks other green parties and human rights organizations to condemn such an acts. With the attack against people who were protesting against terrorism, the Iranian regime shows that it’s condemnation of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington was insincere.
