Iranian regime has mastered the art of recycling its propagators as impartial experts and places them as advisors in European and American think tanks and governmental institutions. Rouzbeh Parsi and Mohammd Ali Shabani are two examples who praise and promote Tehran’s political views in number of European political circles.
Rouzbeh Parsi lives in Paris and is a research fellow working for European Union Institute of Security Studies (EUISS). Last month, he was in Tehran to attend and speak in a conference that was held by the regime. He also has visited some current and former government officials in Tehran while attending the conference.
A few weeks later, he was invited to speak at International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London. He and his co-panelist, Mohamad Ali Shabani spoke about Iran’s current affairs in a manner to project the regime as a victim for audience attending IISS meeting.
Shabani is the editor of “Iranian review of foreign affairs (IRFA), a regime controlled publication.*. Shabani is a PHD student at the University of London where his research program is affiliated with Iranian regime’s “Center for Strategic Research”.
Rouzbeh Parsi and Shabani are examples of pro-Tehran activists who are supported by the Iranian regime and recycled as Iran experts and misinform the public opinion and decision makers in the West.
* The Iranian Review of Foreign Affairs (IRFA) is the academic English language quarterly of the Institute for Strategic Research, an affiliate of the Center for Strategic Research – CSR – (Expediency Council, Tehran).
