Reports and local sources indicate that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is preparing for an attack on Iranian Kurdish parties based in the autonomous Kurdistan region of northern Iraq. This aggressive move involves the transfer of artillery and heavy weapons to the western borders, suggesting a shift towards an offensive posture.
The Iranian regime, grappling with the possibility of widespread protests, seems determined to intimidate its people by threatening an assault on Kurdistan. It is worth noting that Kurdistan served as the birthplace of the “Woman Life Freedom” movement, which sparked inspiration throughout the nation in September of last year. The regime finds itself caught in an impasse, lacking viable solutions to the numerous challenges plaguing its citizens. These range from deep-seated issues such as poverty, hunger, and environmental degradation to the dire state of healthcare, among others. As the cost of living continues to soar, citizens in various cities across the country find themselves on the verge of explosion.
Moreover, the government’s desperate attempts to maintain control and bolster its deteriorating forces have led to the launch of a military campaign in Kurdistan. This move serves a dual purpose, both to quell resistance and instill fear among people across all cities within Iran.
The question that remains unanswered is whether the troop buildup and deployment of military equipment are mere bluffs intended to intimidate the population or a foolish indication of a potential invasion of Kurdistan. In response to this looming threat, Iranian Kurdish parties have declared their readiness to defend their camps, stating their intention to cross the border into Iranian Kurdistan.
In light of the situation, we call upon all political organizations in Iran to stand in solidarity with the Kurdish region and support the parties under attack, as they have consistently been at the forefront of the struggle for freedom.
Furthermore, we strongly urge the international community, international human rights organizations, and green parties worldwide to break their silence and condemn the regime’s reckless actions. It is crucial to resist and oppose this new adventure, protecting the rights and security of the Kurdish people.
