Martin Kobler shares responsibility for criminal attack against Camp liberty

2/9/2013

koberToday, the Iranian regime conducted a mortar and rocket attacks on Camp Liberty, near Baghdad International Airport, the residence of 3100 Iranian dissidents. This vicious attack left six dead and more than 100 people wounded.

Martin Kobler, the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) had visited the camp last week amid residents’ complaints about septic flood and other poor living standard issues. Mr. Kobler has repeatedly ignored warnings about imminent dangers and hazardous situation in the past. He has personally involved the Iranian regime into negotiations concerning the fate of Ashraf and Liberty residents. He knew about other attacks on Camp Ashraf in last January which lead to more than 50 death and hundreds of injuries.

Green Party of Iran condemns today’s criminal attack and ask the international community and green parties around the world to call on UNAMI to protect Iranian dissidents in Iraq.
